Sort of looks like a Cirque du Soleil–inspired artist raided his kid's toy box, doesn't it? Apparently, it's a legendary piece — the 1981 Carlton bookcase by Ettore Sottsass, and one sold for more than $10K at Christie's back in 2007. I could go on and on about the importance of postmodern designs like this, or I could let the far more expert Victoria and Albert Museum do it for me. I have to say — this one just doesn't do it for me.
