This isn't very practical for a home, but it's a cool way to display books in a commercial or artistic setting. If they don't look very traditional, that's because these are shelves made using a rather unorthodox material — pencils. 15,000 of them, to be exact.
Johannes Albert is the lucky guy who got to insert all those thousands of pencils into eight perforated boards—but I think it's only fair, seeing as it was his concept. He came up with the idea as a way for the Mittledeutscher Veirag publishing company to display its books in a more interesting way, and I think he succeeded.
