If you've been jonesing for a new spin on some classic lit and maybe some punchy action-adventure flicks to counteract the oh-so-serious Oscar fare, then February is your month. On offer are animated garden gnomes, a grown-up Dorothy Gale, a fugitive teen with special powers, as well as a hot Roman centurion and his equally hot British slave (not as dirty as it sounds, really!).

Gnomeo and Juliet, voiced by James McAvoy, Emily Blunt, Michael Caine, Maggie Smith and Patrick Stewart. Based on - obviously - Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In theaters Feb. 11.

The Witches of Oz, based on L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Starring Sean Astin, Christopher Lloyd and Mia Sara. In limited release Feb. 18.

I Am Number Four, starring Alex Pettyfer, Dianna Agron and Timothy Olyphant. Adapted from the novel of the same name, the first in a six-part series by James Frey and Jobie Hughes. In theaters Feb. 18.

The Eagle, an adaptation of Rosemary Sutcliff's novel The Eagle of the Ninth. Starring Jamie Bell, Channing Tatum, Mark Strong, Donald Sutherland and Paul Ritter. In theaters Feb. 11.
