September's shaping up to be a big month for book adaptations. And it looks like there's a fantastic lineup planned - I see humor, romance, drama, crime; a little something for everyone. Good stuff.
It's Kind of a Funny Story, starring Zach Galifianakis, Emma Roberts and Lauren Graham, based on the 2006 novel by Ned Vizzini. In theaters Sept. 24.
The Romantics, starring Katie Holmes, Josh Duhamel, Anna Paquin, Elijah Wood. Based on Galt Niederhoffer's book of the same name. In theaters Sept. 10.
Never Let Me Go, starring Keira Knightley, Carey Mulligan and Andrew Garfield, the adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro's 2005 novel. In theaters Sept. 15.
The Town, starring Ben Affleck, Jon Hamm, Rebecca Hall, Chris Cooper and Blake Lively. Based on Chuck Hogan's novel, Prince of Thieves. In theaters Sept. 17.
This final movie isn't actually an adaptation, but it is definitely literary. It's Howl, starring the delectable James Franco as Allen Ginsberg and co-starring Mary-Louis Parker, Jeff Daniels, Jon Hamm and Alan Alda. The film details the obscenity trial that took place after the publication of Gineberg's scandalous poem. In theaters Sept. 24.
