Pages to Pixels has a post featuring rare pictures of 18 wonderful women writers. You can browse my favorites after the jump; scroll through the whole post here.

Willa Cather
Look at that HAT! Bring those babies back!

Zora Neale Hurston
She obviously just saw Willa's fantastically plumed hat.

Doris Lessing
This is a woman ready for her close up.

Marianne Moore
I confess, I haven't read any of her work, but this photo has convinced me to change that.

Edith Wharton
Elegant and eloquent - this woman is in my top five list of authors. Also, did you know her family - her maiden name was Edith Newbold Jones - were the Joneses of the saying, "Keeping up with the Joneses"? Yep, it's true. Now that's rich.

I did not know that about Wharton! I'm currently in the middle of The Age of Innocence. None of the modern (delightful yet light) stuff I am also reading compares.

Isn't she just incredible? I love The House of Mirth, and her short stories are also fantastic. Definitely check those out if you haven't already. I might just have to grab something and start rereading now...
